Staff

Administrator / Teacher

Cathe Cencia serves as both Administrator and Teacher for Keystone Montessori.  Cathe holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Xavier University in Ohio.  Her undergraduate studies focused primarily on the literature of William Shakespeare, as well as Latin and Greek languages.

Cathe received her Montessori Training at Loyola University in Maryland, through the Washington Montessori Institute (accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale).  She is trained to teach children aged six to twelve and taught elementary for 12 years before founding Keystone Montessori

A resident of central Kentucky for over 35 years, Ms. Cencia lives in Lexington with her husband and two daughters.


Assistant to the Teacher

Peggy Somsel serves as Assistant to the Teacher for Keystone Montessori.  She is an trained primary Montessori teacher with a certificate from Association Montessori Internationale. She taught primary level Montessori (ages 3-6) for more than 35 years and is excited at the opportunity to now spend time in the elementary classroom. Ms. Somsel lives in Lexington and has two children.


Reading Specialist

Barbara Mason is trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction and provides extra reading support for children at Keystone Montessori. Before joining our community, she taught in the public school system for more than 25 years. During this time, she led classrooms at almost every grade level. She also enjoyed the opportunity to teach art to all grade levels for .one year, and after doing so she founded an after-school art club which she continues to lead today. Mrs. Mason lives in Georgetown with her husband and has two children.



Physical Activity Director

Blake Adams serves as the Physical Activity Director at Keystone Montessori.  She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and is a certified Zumba Fitness instructor.

Blake worked on the childcare unit at The Ridge in Lexington as a mental health associate before becoming a full time mom of two.  With both of her girls having attended Montessori preschool, she has been involved with volunteering in the classroom for 7 years and worked as the office assistant for Michelle Hope at Children's Montessori of Georgetown before the birth of her second daughter. Blake also teaches the Zumba fitness classes at Grace Christan Church.  

Ms. Adams resides in Georgetown with her husband and two daughters.
